Deutsch Kurzhaars vom James River The Deutsch Kurzhaar is a versatile hunting dog, bred by hunters, for hunters.  As such, it is capable of pointing and retrieving game birds, retrieving waterfowl and furred game, and tracking wounded game.  It must show cooperation in working with its handler, and at the same time, must show enough independence to execute long and difficult tracking and retrieving, without relying on the handler.               In appearance, the Kurzhaar is noble, well balanced, and built for speed, power, and endurance.  In temperament, the Kurzhaar is outgoing, friendly, and an ideal family companion. We breed on a limited basis, breeding only from those dogs that meet not only the DKV breeding qualifications, but also meet our own internal standards of temperament, natural ability, trainability, and conformation.
